Mainstreaming/Resource
There are varying degrees of inclusion with how long a student spends in the general education setting. In a special education classroom with limited mainstreaming, inclusive practices are used by teacher and students during instruction. Mainstreaming is used to ensure that no student is excluded. In a resource model, the student is pulled out from the general education setting to be taught by the special educator. The resource teacher is responsible in developing and implementing the curriculum. General education is part of the IEP and special education makes sure the student is moving toward his or her educational goals (Doktor, 2010).
